Though the early returns were encouraging, when a lot of ballots were returned promptly in April, few have been received since. As of June 12th, we have received a total of only 55 ballots. Of those 55 ballots, 41 were in favor of passage, which is encouraging, but we need approval by two thirds of homeowners - or a total of 90 votes in favor. Voting ends on June 30th. Board members will be going door-to-door the rest of this month in an effort to collect more ballots. If you haven't already cast a ballot, here is a link to the
ballot form. If you want to read the proposed amendment to the covenants, here is a link to the
amendment. Also, here is the
letter that accompanied the ballots when they were mailed.
If you're concerned about the condition of our roads, send in a ballot. If you've already sent in a ballot, talk it up with your neighbors and encourage them to send in their ballots. Ballots should be sent to Chestnut Hill Farms Association, P.O. Box 471, Clarkston, MI 48347.
This may be the Board's final attempt to provide the Association with a reasonable cost alternative to the Road Commission's "Special Assessment District" program for repaving.
